First of all, it is, without a doubt, way more fun and dynamic than the original (which is still fun, mind you). The plot of this game is both an improvement and a step-back from the predecessor, a double-edged sword. Like in the first MW, the campaign is essentially split into two parts or, rather, two military units:ġ) Marines, who deal with the Russian invasion on America andĢ)The newly formed Task-Force 141, a counter-terrorist unit consisting of various foreign personnel with a single objective: hunt down Makarov. Thus, the "Task-Force 141", an elite counter-terrorist unit comprised of best of the best, are summoned. Meanwhile, Vladimir Makarov, Zakhaev's former lieutenant, starts commiting various terror acts all around the Europe in the span of five years. Your efforts in MW to save the world from Ultranationalists were almost completely useless, as they take over Russia anyway and declare Imran Zakhaev hero and a martyr. It also held the record for the best video game launch, the record tha would be beaten by MW3, Black Ops II and GTA V Modern Warfare 2 was released on November 10th, 2009 to very positive reviews, praising the gameplay and especially the innovations brought to the multiplayer. Logically, a sequel was almost inevitable. Not only was it universally praised for the breath of fresh air it brought in a market oversaturated with WWII shooters, but it also became the best-selling game of 2007. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare achieved an enormous success.
